One of the Butte College Foundation's most vital activities is the scholarship program in support of Butte College students. The Foundation administers several programs that augment traditional student aid and help to ease the financial burden felt by many students.
The Butte College Foundation has cumulatively awarded over 1,600 scholarships totaling over a million dollars to students in genuine financial need. These scholarships have been established by the generosity of individuals and organizations in our community who recognize the need to support educational opportunity, from fundraising activities, and from scholarship endowments currently maintained by the Foundation. The following are only a few of our endowed scholarship accounts.
The Al Schlueter Memorial Scholarship 
The many friends of Al Schlueter and the Butte College Foundation have established an endowed scholarship account to benefit students at Butte Community College.
The Scholarship has been established as a lasting memorial to the the memory of Mr. Al Schlueter, a former President at Butte College. Read more about Al Schlueter 
The Bryan K. Zollner Memorial Scholarship
The family and friends of Bryan Zollner and Butte College Foundation have established an endowed schoalrship account to benefit students with a serious interest in Butte College Fire Academy. The scholarship has been established as a lasting memorial to the memory of Bryan Zollner, son, brother, husband, father, friend and firefighter.
Chief Bryan Zollner emarked on his firefighting career while attending Butte College in 1980. During his 26-year career, he worked for the Oroville Fire Department, the Yuba City Fire Department and for the Butte Unit of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF, now CAL FIRE). He was honored during his career with the State of California Gold Medal of Valor, the CAL FIRE Director's Superior Accomplishment Award, the California Governor's Clarity Award, Firehouse Magazine's Medal of Valor and Salutatorian in his CAL FIRE Basic Fire Control Class #98.
The Justin James May Memorial Scholarship
The family and friends of Justin May and Butte College Foundation have established an endowed schoalrship account to benefit students who demonstrate qualities indicative of an exemplary fire fighter. The scholarship has been established as a lasting memorial to the memory of Justin May, son, brother, firefighter and EMT.
Justin May was born on September 9th, 1980 in West Hills, California. He graduated from the UCLA Pre-Hospital Care EMT Program in 2001. Justin worked for Gerber Ambulance as an EMT and responded to 911 dispatches with the Torrance Registry as and Emergency Medical Technician. Justin graduated from the Butte College 38th Fire Academy in 2003.
Justin worked at Yosemite National Park's Wawona Fire Station in 2003 as a firefighter and EMT. He was attending the College of the Siskiyous Paramedic program and was also a volunteer fireman for the City of Chico Fire Department.

The Mary Boss Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship has been established by the Foundation in honor of Mary Boss, a Butte College student and employee whose 20 years were tragically cut short in an automobile accident.
The Byron Thomas Memorial Scholarship
The many friends of Byron Thomas and the Butte College Foundation have established an endowed scholarship account to benefit students with a serious interest in pursuit of music. The scholarship has been established as a lasting memorial to the memory of Mr. Byron Thomas, a long-time and beloved faculty member at Butte College.
The Edward A. Craddock Endowed Scholarship
in Water & Resource Conservation
Mr. Edward Craddock and the Butte College Foundation have established a scholarship account to benefit students with serious commitment to issues related to natural resource conservation.
The Jackson Community Service Scholarship
Butte College wishes to establish an endowment account for the purpose of honoring Matthews D. Jackson for his years of dedication and service to the College.
A percentage of the Matthews D. Jackson Endowment will be used to fund the Jackson Community Service Scholarship to assist deserving students who have demonstrated exceptional community service.
Donors have many options for establishing a scholarship at Butte College. Anyone can contribute to the Foundation's scholarship funds at any time. Make checks payable to Butte College Foundation or contact our office to pay by credit card over the phone.
