<< BackInternational Students at Butte College
The Butte College EMT and Paramedic Programs have the very exciting opportunity to host International students from Egypt this academic year.
Amir Maklad and Ayat Soliman applied to the Fulbright Center in Cairo for consideration to come to the United States through a California Community College Initiative for Egypt, a program designed to provide insight into various areas of vocational education and experience.
Amir is both an EMT with the Ministry of Health and Population in Cairo as well as a CCU nurse in as-Salam International Hospital in Maddi, Cairo. He is enrolled in the Butte College Paramedic Program. He is excited about the classroom experience and is really looking forward to field work experience where he will have a first hand opportunity to see how paramedics handle emergencies and provide advanced life support here in the US.
Ayat Soliman is a critical care nurse in Dar-Fouad in Giza, Egypt. Her specialty is cardio-thoracic surgery. She is currently enrolled in the EMT program at Butte College. She is especially interested in identifying trends in Western Medicine and taking new ideas back to her colleagues in Cairo. She is looking forward to work experience of observing surgery and emergency medical processes here in the US.
Ayat and Amir (along with their classmates) will have an opportunity to meet many EMS leaders, legislators and educators during an upcoming EMS seminar in San Francisco. Many EMS educators are equally eager to meet Amir and Ayat as this is the first known International exchange of EMS oriented students to date.
