The Butte College nursing programs are well respected in our community for providing high quality educational programs that produce nurses who are highly trained to care for those in need. The majority of our nursing students are from the local area and often after graduation, stay here to care for you and me!
Nursing school is very expensive and has many costs above the usual tuition fees. During a two year Registered Nursing program, students must purchase approximately $2,000 in books alone. They are also required to pay for additional materials and lab fees (nursing bag, uniform, equipment) of approximately $600; and then, they pay approximately $500 for licensure. There is also their cost of travel to clinical practice which often report significant out of pocket costs
To become a nurse is an expensive endeavor that is complicated by the fact that the students are encouraged not to work while they are in the nursing program. As a result, many nursing students struggle financially.
Fortunately, the Butte College Department of Nursing has an Emergency Loan Fund that helps provide assistance. These funds are loaned to students to assist them in purchasing books, make mortgage payments, buying groceries, having vehicles repaired, and even to pay for medical bills. Donations to this fund are greatly appreciated and can be made to the Nursing Department through the Butte College Foundation. |
